Cate Chapman is a 3D animator and moving image artist. Her formal experiments with digital media explore interpassivity and interface design, consisting of layers of sampled video, chaotic animated systems and claustophobic frameworks.
Non Agregar is a 6 minute composition presenting organically aggregated, automatically arranged digital images. It is animated 'straight-ahead', a stream of consciousness narrative, borrowing from various historical paintings and compositions to invoke an evidence of the human 'hand' and 'eye' inside the confines of software. The video is also intended as a critical response to hyper-realism, procedural generation, neural style transfer etc. which are made the dominant contemporary visual mode via the film and game industries.
